Türkiye and China are celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations by intensifying their collaboration in various sectors, including trade, technology, energy, and regional affairs. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the longstanding connections between the two nations, which trace back to the Silk Road era. This historic route not only facilitated trade but also fostered cultural and diplomatic exchanges between the civilizations.
Formal diplomatic ties were established in 1971, and since then, the relationship has flourished remarkably. Today, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with their annual trade exceeding $50 billion. The two countries have also enhanced connectivity, with an increasing number of passenger and cargo flights bridging major cities. Türkiye has fortified its diplomatic presence in China with multiple consulates, reflecting growing economic engagement.
The ambassador emphasized the mutual interest in boosting cooperation in sectors like artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. He noted that both Ankara and Beijing align on numerous international and regional matters, advocating for peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention. This alignment fosters a strong foundation for their evolving partnership.
Under the strategic guidance of their leaders, Türkiye and China are committed to advancing their ties with a focus on long-term economic growth and regional collaboration.
