China Urges Enhanced India Partnership to Bolster Growing Bilateral Ties

In a recent meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, both leaders emphasized the importance of bolstering cooperation and sustaining the positive momentum in China-India relations. Wang Yi highlighted the need for both countries to increase high-level exchanges and broaden their collaboration across various sectors, including trade, media, cultural, and people-to-people interactions. He also stressed the importance of managing sensitive issues through dialogue and called for enhanced coordination on regional and international matters, advocating for a multipolar world that reflects the interests of developing nations.

During the discussions, Wang Yi reiterated China’s backing of India’s role as the host of this year’s BRICS summit. He encouraged India to work closely within the expanded BRICS framework, signaling a desire for greater collaboration among the member countries. The Chinese foreign minister’s remarks underscore Beijing’s commitment to working with India on a range of global issues.

On his part, Jaishankar expressed India’s commitment to nurturing a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reaffirmed India’s consistent positions on sensitive topics such as Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), emphasizing India’s respect for China’s sovereignty. His comments reflect India’s ongoing efforts to balance its diplomatic stance while maintaining a constructive dialogue with its neighbor.

The meeting between Wang Yi and Jaishankar underscores the ongoing efforts by both nations to stabilize and enhance their bilateral ties.
