China Announces Plan to Boost Imports of Tech and Agriculture Products

Date:

During its upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan from 2026 to 2030, China is set to increase imports of advanced technology, essential industrial components, energy resources, and high-quality agricultural goods. This plan, announced by the General Administration of Customs, aims to facilitate industrial modernization, enhance domestic consumption, and offer Chinese consumers a wider variety of quality international products. Moreover, China intends to diversify the range of countries from which it imports these goods.

The first half of the year saw China’s imports and exports rise significantly, with imports growing at a faster rate than exports due to increased domestic demand for advanced equipment, technology, and consumer goods. Customs officials have emphasized that China will continue to broaden market access for foreign agricultural and food products while simplifying quarantine and import approval procedures to streamline the process.

Since the beginning of the year, China has approved market access for 264 categories of agricultural and food products from 79 additional countries, expanding its import sources to over 150 countries and regions. This move is part of a broader strategy to promote greater market openness and diversified trade, reflecting China’s commitment to stronger global economic cooperation.

Chinese experts highlight that the country’s strategy is designed to meet the demands for industrial upgrades and high-quality consumer goods, creating new opportunities for international exporters. By increasing imports, China aims to not only support its own domestic development but also to strengthen its role in the global economy.

As China’s consumer market continues to expand, officials anticipate that this growth will provide greater opportunities for businesses worldwide. The country’s increasing focus on boosting domestic consumption is expected to drive further demand for imported goods, benefiting both Chinese consumers and international trade partners.
