China is set to kick off its National Science Popularization Month, an initiative aimed at enhancing public understanding of scientific innovation and boosting science literacy across the nation. This month-long event, themed “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” will encompass a diverse array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and public engagement activities designed to make scientific knowledge more accessible to the general populace.
Throughout the month, over 100 exhibitions and events will be hosted at major venues in Beijing, while more than 150 activities will be coordinated by national scientific societies across the country. The primary emphasis of the initiative is to make both basic research and emerging scientific advancements more approachable for the public, thereby fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of science.
One of the highlights of the program will be the opportunity for visitors to explore laboratories and research facilities. This hands-on experience is aimed at providing insight into the latest scientific progress and developments happening at the forefront of research.
In addition to these activities, the program will feature the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy, scheduled to take place in mid-September in Beijing. This conference will gather representatives from various countries to engage in discussions on science literacy and international cooperation, further underscoring the global significance of science education and collaboration.
