Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the nation to maintain confidence and progress steadily towards the goal of China’s national rejuvenation. Speaking at a reception in Beijing commemorating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Xi emphasized the importance of sustaining economic momentum and fostering innovation-driven and high-quality development to improve people’s livelihoods.
Xi highlighted the necessity of meeting annual targets to ensure a robust start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, covering the period from 2026 to 2030. He reiterated China’s commitment to the “one country, two systems” framework in Hong Kong and Macao, advocating for greater integration of these regions into China’s broader development initiatives.
Regarding Taiwan, President Xi called for enhanced cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, while expressing opposition to “Taiwan independence” and external interference. He stressed the need for continued efforts towards the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait.
In terms of foreign policy, Xi reaffirmed China’s dedication to pursuing an independent foreign policy of peace. He underscored China’s aim to promote a global community with a shared future for humanity, reflecting the nation’s broader diplomatic goals.
