Thailand and China Bolster Strategic Partnership and AI Collaboration

In a meeting held in Shanghai, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul underscored their shared commitment to bolstering bilateral relations, emphasizing collaboration in artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and regional cooperation. The discussions highlighted ambitions to strengthen ties in emerging sectors such as AI, aerospace, and clean energy, alongside accelerating key infrastructure projects.

The leaders focused on advancing the China-Thailand railway and enhancing rail links between China, Laos, and Thailand, aiming to improve regional connectivity. This strategic infrastructure development is seen as a significant step towards fostering economic and trade linkages in the region, which both countries view as crucial for their future growth and cooperation.

Additionally, both nations pledged to intensify efforts to combat cross-border criminal activities, including the fight against online gambling and telecommunications fraud, an area of increasing concern for both governments. The commitment extends to enhancing partnerships across various sectors such as tourism, education, and media, aiming to deepen people-to-people ties and mutual understanding.

Thailand reiterated its adherence to the one-China policy, a principle that remains a cornerstone of Sino-Thai relations. In the spirit of regional stability, both leaders highlighted the importance of peaceful resolutions to regional challenges, with particular reference to the ongoing situation at the Thailand-Cambodia border. Through these discussions, China and Thailand aim to foster a more stable and prosperous regional environment.
