In a significant move to enhance global collaboration on artificial intelligence, 29 countries have come together in Shanghai to form the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO). This newly established independent intergovernmental body aims to bolster international efforts in AI governance and ensure the technology is developed responsibly.
WAICO, headquartered in Shanghai, is set to focus on enhancing global AI governance, fostering international partnerships, and supporting the safe and equitable advancement of artificial intelligence. The founding members of WAICO include nations such as Kazakhstan, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, and China.
