Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday unveiled a five-point proposal aimed at fostering inclusive economic globalization and strengthening cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region. Speaking at the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, Xi urged member nations to stay true to APEC’s founding mission of promoting open development and shared prosperity.

The five key points of Xi’s proposal include:
Safeguarding the multilateral trading system by strengthening the role of the World Trade Organization and updating global trade rules to protect developing countries’ interests.

Building an open economic environment through deeper trade liberalization, investment facilitation, and regional integration under the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific framework.

Securing industrial and supply chains by enhancing connectivity, mutual trust, and collaboration across the region.

Advancing digital and green transformation by leveraging digital technologies, reducing green trade barriers, and expanding cooperation in clean energy and sustainable industries.

Promoting inclusive development focused on balanced, people-centered growth that benefits all nations and communities.

Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to openness, reform, and high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He added that China’s forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan would deepen reform and create new opportunities for regional and global economic progress.
