Chinese Navy’s 83rd Fleet Makes Historic Friendship Visit to Thailand

The Chinese Navy’s 83rd Fleet arrived at Chuk Samet Port in Thailand’s Chon Buri province on Thursday, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral maritime and cultural relations between China and Thailand. The fleet, known as Pasan, was welcomed by senior Thai naval officials and the Chinese ambassador.
The visit, part of a training mission for over 1,000 Chinese naval cadets, aims to enhance navigation experience and promote navy-to-navy cooperation. The fleet includes the training ship Qi Jiguang and the warfare ship Yi Menshan, both designed to support large-scale international naval operations and educational exchanges.
For the first time, the Chinese Navy opened its ships to the Thai public, offering guided tours and cultural interactions over several days to foster goodwill and understanding. Friendship events and joint naval activities were also held during the visit.
The fleet will continue its regional journey, departing for Singapore and Malaysia after the completion of its Thailand mission, further reinforcing China’s diplomatic outreach through maritime engagement.
